Salon Equipment

By

Introduction

If you're thinking about starting up your own salon, or if you are tired of going to salons and are looking into getting some of the standard salon equipment on your own, you're in luck.  Salon equipment is actually quite affordable, and it's easy to purchase most salon equipment, even online!

This Hub is full of information on what kinds of equipment is available, and some good places to look for it.  My goal is to make it a one-stop shop.

Beauty Salon Equipment

It surprised me when I started doing research, on how affordable your basic things actually are.  Let's say you wanted to start a small beauty salon in your home, perhaps as some side cash while you're learned the trade.  The most basic piece of equipment you'd want is a barber chair, right?  Well these chairs go for as low as $120 online, and can be shipped by both Amazon and eBay!  Granted, these are basic models, but if you're starting out, or if you're not intending to make much money off of the hobby, then an inexpensive chair is almost certainly the best way to go.  And the best part is, they're easy to get ahold of.

If you don't like the idea of shopping for such a large piece of equipment online, then another option would be to ask the salons in your area where they get their chairs - or if you're lucky, perhaps one is closing and would be willing to sell you their things for a reduced price.

And although I keep mentioning chairs, this holds true for every piece of equipment in a salon.  Do you need a hair steamer?  A dryer chair?  Or perhaps a styling station, complete with mirror, shelf, and drawers for all your equipment?  They're all available online, shipped directly to your home.

Used Salon Equipment

I mentioned above that getting some used salon equipment from an existing store may be an option, but I need to make mention, that this equipment can potentially be in poor condition.  Drying chairs contain heating coils that are very susceptible to breaking, and the swiveling chairs themselves can stiff and hard to operate over time.  I like to get my own things new if at all possible, or from a very trusted source, but of course, if you get it at a very low price, it's well worth it.

To give you an idea of exactly what you can find, here are listings from Amazon and Ebay.  Both websites regularly offer up items, with Amazon typically having new things and eBay having used.  This is not a fast rule, but a rule of thumb.  Both websites offer terrific refund programs, so if there's any problem, you shouldn't have difficulty getting your money back.
