4 Great Candle Holders
64Introduction
There's something beautiful and romantic about candlelight. And a big part of candlelight beauty is choosing the best candle holders to keep the candles in. Candle holders can be just as elegant as the candles themselves, or can be subtle, and instead of drawing attention to themselves, simply allowing the candle to speak (and burn) for itself.
If you're looking for some candle holder ideas and recommendation, this Hub is for you. In it, I list 4 different kinds of candle holders, give advice on when to use them, and show some pictures so you get a good idea of what they look like. It's going to be a wonderful (and dare I say... romantic?) time!
Glass Candle Holders
Glass candle holders are a great mix between holders that draw attention to themselves and let the fire speak for itself. The glass can be simple or elegant, clear or colored, and each of these choices makes for a different effect. But at the same time, glass almost always looks very good.
The simplest glass holders are simple glass, almost like a tiny drinking glass, that lets the maximum amount of light out. These are typically very inexpensive and easy to buy in bulk sets. You may see them in averaged-priced bars and restaurants, or set out on patios to give a little light to the night. You can also get colored glass that turns the light the color of the glass. This can work to great effect if you match the glass coloring to the room's overall color and tone.
Votive Candle Holders
Votive candles are designed to hold votive candles, which are the kinds of candles that melt into oil when burning. So these specific holders tend to look and act like cups, ready to contain the oil as it melts.
Similar to the glass candle holders mentioned above, these holders can be found in different colors, and can be customized to have writing, designs, or patterns on their outsides. More creative uses of the votive candle holder I've seen have been a rainbow display of holders, all a different color, patterned prints on the outside of the holder that makes the light shine in a cool patterned way, and Halloween candles that have prints of skulls, spiders, and ghosts on the outside. Creepy and cool.
Hurricane Candle Holders
Hurricane glasses are tall and thin, traditionally used to mix cocktails, with a thin body and often curving outward closer to the rim of the glass. They work great for party cocktails, and equally well as elegant and beautiful candle holders too.
Personally, I always think of Christmas when I think of hurricane candle holders, but that's just because my mom used them quite a bit at Christmas when I was growing up. They really work for any occasion, including romantic dinners and cheery evening decorations.
Wall Candle Holders
If you really want to make your home look unique, and aren't afraid of a small construction project (or know someone who can do it for you) then a wall candle holder is about as complex as things get. And while they may scream Dracula at first thought, the reality is there's nothing dark and mysterious about wall candles - unless you want there to be, of course.
The shortest search online will turn up a wide variety of wall holders, everything from religious themed holders to modern, abstract models. You can even find the cast iron holders if that's what will look best in your home.
How do you decide? I think in this kind of a case, you just have to picture the holder on your wall, and think about how well everything else would match with it. There's no hard and fast rule, though matching themes is how I think about it - if it's a sparsely decorated room, a simple holder will do. More elaborate furniture will demand more elaborate wall decorations.
Conclusion
With so many different types of candle holders, it's not hard to find something that will work well for you. No matter how simple or detailed you want it to be - maybe you want some color lit against the wall, or a creepy ghost figure during Halloween - there's a candle holder for you. And hopefully, this Hub has given you a little more detail on what would work best in your particular need.

I'm not much of a candle holder person but the article was interesting and informative.
